Killer Asteroid

Words and music copyright 1998 by Steve Brooks

There's an asteroid a-coming.
It's tumbling through space.
An asteroid a-coming
To cream the human race.
You can say I'm crazy.
You can say I'm paranoid.
But you'd better watch out
For that killer asteroid.

It's wandering the cosmos,
With nothing much to do.
It's minding its own business.
It doesn't have a clue
Its due to be colliding
With the third rock from the sun.
An asteroid is coming,
And there's nowhere to run.

There's an asteroid a-coming,
Just like the one before -
An asteroid a-coming -
That killed the dinosaurs.
The rats and the roaches
Will all be overjoyed.
They'll inherit the earth
From that killer asteroid.

But we don't need an asteroid
To spoil our happy home.
We find it all too easy
To spoil it on our own.
The ocean's boiling,
And the prairies turn to dust,
Yeah, we have met the asteroid
And the asteroid is us.

There's an asteroid a-coming,
Its orbit cannot change -
An asteroid a-coming -
Because it's got no brains.
But you and I can reason,
Unlike that asteroid.
And change our direction
'Fore our world is destroyed.

There's an asteroid a-coming (3 times) ...SPLAT!
