Just Plain Bill

Words and music copyright 1998 by Steve Brooks

Well, I bet you've been getting
The wrong impression
Bout William Henry Gates
He looks like a geek,
But he lives like a sheik,
And he owns half the United States.
But when you get to know him better,
He's just like your neighbor next door.
That's assuming that your neighbor
Has $40 billion or more.
They call him,

CHORUS
Just plain Bill,
Got a house in Seattle.
Just plain Bill,
Treats his workers like cattle.
He may be the king of the hill,
Still, he's Just plain Bill.

Now, the Department of Justice
Got an antitrust case.
They're saying he's off on a spree.
Windows 95
Is trying to monopolize,
And that just isn't P.C.
They say he's like Darth Vader,
But you know that he's really your friend.
He'd live just like Ralph Nader,
If he had less money to spend.

CHORUS
Just plain Bill,
Likes to eat at the deli.
Just plain Bill
He's no Machiavelli.
He may be the king of the hill,
Still, he's Just plain Bill.

Now, he's kissing the babies,
And he's hugging the ladies,
And can't seem to get him his fill.
It gets me to wondering
If he's thinking of running
To replace that other guy Bill.
Now, he won't be such a novice,
When the next election comes 'round.
He could win the Oval Office,
But it sure would be a step down.

CHORUS
Just plain Bill,
He's so modest and humble.
Just plain Bill,
While he's making a bundle.
Just plain Bill,
He's a regular Bubba.
Just plain Bill,
Wants to be your Big Brother....
He may be the king of the hill,
Still, he's Just plain Bill.
